This is what we are doing for Term 3, 2016

Our Topic for this term is Water Safety, Fire Safety and Keeping Ourselves Safe (KOS).

This term we are lucky to have the swimming pool so our students can be more confident in the water and learn some basic skills in the water.

We are also looking forward to having the Firefighters visit our school in Week 6 - the students will be learning about how to be fire wise and what to do when there is a fire at school or at home.

Our final topic is Keeping Ourselves Safe, also known as KOS.  This is a programme where students talk about different ways to keep ourselves safe and who we can trust to help us.

ICT

The children will be learning to use Microsoft Word by publishing their writing stories and inserting pictures that match their stories - these can be inserted through Clip Art or from the internet.

Maths

Number – Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division and Fractions

Strand - Measurement, Capacity

PE

This term the children will be learning basic skills in swimming, how to float, how to breathe / blow bubbles, how to put a life jacket on, how to get into the pool and how to be safe around the pool.

Our class have swimming on MONDAY's and FRIDAY's where it is compulsory to take part in swimming.

Students who want extra time in the swimming pool can swim on TUESDAY's at lunch time.

Please encourage your child to bring their swimming togs so they are well equipped with the basic skills to be safe around and in the water, especially when they can apply these skills during summer.

Reading

Each day the children will bring home books that were read at school.

Please support your child by listening to her/him read, and ask them questions about the story they are reading.

Please make sure all reading books are returned to school each day.

If you would like to see me with regards to any concerns about your child, please feel free to come into our class before or after school, or make an appointment by ringing the school office.
